MANCHESTER derby ends in stalemate
The top-of-the-table clash descended into a flat and lifeless contest, the first shot on target not coming until the 82nd minute, though the draw sends City back to top spot
Manchester City returned to the summit of the Premier League after a dull derby clash at Old Trafford
on Sunday, though Manchester United rallied late on only to be denied a last-gasp victory.
The first half was a dour exchange, with United failing to register a single shot for the first time in over
a decade, but the home side showed noticeably more intent after the restart, with Morgan Schneiderlin
almost nudging a corner past Joe Hart.
The visitors, without Sergio Aguero and David Silva, struggled to find their rhythm throughout the
contest and were almost left to pay the price late on, with substitute Jesse Lingard hitting a superb shot
onto the crossbar before Chris Smalling forced Hart into a stunning stop.
